The Climate Justice Initiative uses the power of public art to tell stories about the causes, effects, and solutions to the climate crisis in Lenapehoking (the greater Philadelphia region). We are a collaboration between front-line organizers, activists, and artists, convened by the Environmental Justice Department of Mural Arts Philadelphia. A key part of the climate Justice initiative includes Creative Disruptions that use the power of public art to intervene directly in local climate injustices, supporting the priorities of collaborating organizations and amplifying their messages. The artists will create a small scale creative disruption, a highly-visible, action that disrupts the status quo and advances campaign objectives of participant organization: Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living (CRCQL), an environmental justice community organization based in Chester, PA fighting to end trash incineration in their community.
